Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, Mark Wilson is an entrepreneur with a background in business and art. He studied business courses in college in Ohio, then headed south to Florida in the early 90s to work in the sign industry. “My father was a former Disney artist, so the artistic DNA is there,” he laughs. This color and design background allowed him to launch his golf cart company, NasCarts, in 2014, specializing in customized electric golf carts.
Three years ago, Mark relocated to the Emerald Coast to open another NasCarts in Sandestin, FL. He fell in love with the area, setting up his home in Santa Rosa Beach, and couldn’t help but notice that the electric bike industry was exploding all around him. Panama City Beach, with its many new communities and developments all over Bay County, was adding more bike trails. So, when he sold NasCarts in Sandestin and prepared to launch Cruzin30A in Pier Park, he saw the opportunity to offer both electric golf carts and electric bikes. “Where we’re located is perfect,” he offers. “Drop your car off at Pier Park in the morning, take out a bike all day, and bring it back by 6 p.m. We also deliver and pick up bikes all over the Panama City Beach area.”
What makes Cruzin30A unique and different from any other golf cart company? Many things! “We’re more of a transportation company,” explains Mark. “Most golf cart companies just offer golf carts. We sell Certified Pre-Owned E-Z-GO Golf Carts, which is a tried and true American-built cart from Augusta, Georgia. They are sturdy and solid, and their reliability far exceeds any other cart in the marketplace.” Cruzin30A sells new golf carts, certified pre-owned golf carts, and electric bikes. But one of the biggest features that sets this company apart from the rest is its cart maintenance.
“We provide a mobile service, whether or not you purchase your cart from us,” explains Mark. “I would hope that someone would purchase a golf cart knowing that whoever is selling it, they’re going to service it too.” He explains that there are 12 points on the mechanical end that they make sure are brand new. They right-align all the metals that are on the carts. New bushings. Brand new solenoid (which powers up the cart). New braking system. One-year warranty, bumper to bumper. “Then finally, we get to the ‘Build-a-Bear’ phase!” he exclaims.
Designing the golf cart with the customer and the design team is clearly Mark’s favorite part of the process, and you can feel his excitement as he begins describing the creative and fanciful land of Golf Cart Customization. “I love customization! …it goes back to my art background,” he shares. “People purchase a golf cart based on their personality. A favorite sports team. A ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ golf cart or ‘It’s Five O’clock Somewhere.’ And having the ability to go custom doesn’t necessarily mean more expensive; our custom carts are Certified Pre-Owned and are probably still 30% less than it would be for a brand-new E-Z-GO. After all the bells and whistles are installed, and maybe a new radio, you’ll be at $13K… the same price as a new cart built outside of the U.S.”
