As we continue to shape the future of education in Panama City Beach, our focus on Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs remains at the forefront. Nelson Mandela once said, “Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world.” At Bay District Schools, we are committed to empowering students with practical, real-world skills that extend beyond the classroom.
In honor of February being National CTE Month, I’d like to update you about our beach students’ incredible access to state-of-the-art hands-on learning opportunities.
I am proud to highlight the exceptional CTE programs at Breakfast Point Academy and Surfside Middle Schools. These programs serve as foundational pillars, preparing students for the incredible opportunities available at J.R. Arnold High School. Arnold’s Construction Academy equips students with valuable skills, including heavy equipment operation, while the drone program enables students to pursue FAA certifications, opening doors to real-world job opportunities.
Our beach elementary schools are also at the forefront of STEM-focused CTE programs, offering hands-on learning experiences such as coding, programming robots, and solving complex problems. These initiatives ensure that even our youngest learners are engaged in meaningful education that cultivates critical thinking, problem-solving, and innovation.
Our commitment to CTE extends beyond K-12, providing seamless transitions for our graduates. Tom P. Haney Technical College, Gulf Coast State College, and Florida State University-Panama City Campus offer continued education opportunities, allowing students to specialize in their chosen CTE pathways and further explore their passions.
Whether it’s February or any time during the school year, we encourage parents and guardians to explore the diverse CTE courses and certification pathways available at their child’s school. Our school counselors are ready to provide information and guidance on how CTE can positively impact your child’s educational journey and future career prospects.
