PCB Fishing Rodeo, PCB Seafood Festival and More!

The Panama City Boatman’s Association is hosting the Third Annual PCB Fishing Rodeo October 4-12!  This event is great for the entire fishing community, whether you fish from a paddleboard, The Jetties, a private recreational boat, a Charter boat, or a headboat, you can join the competition. Species that are included in the competition are: King Mackerel, Grouper, Wahoo, Red Snapper, Tuna, Shark, Red Fish, Flounder, Pompano and several more.  The exact list will be confirmed on the night of the captain’s meeting.

Some of the highlights include the mandatory Captain’s [and Reps of all participants] meeting on Friday, October 3, from 5:30-7:30 p.m., with dinner served at 6 p.m. at The Event Center.

Tournament fishing begins at 12:01 a.m., Saturday, October 4, and the scales close at 5 p.m. Sunday, October 12. The scales are open daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. [closing Sundays at 5 p.m.] with Daily Prizes Awarded at 7:10 each evening.

On Saturday, October 4, the Annual Kids’ Fishing Clinic & Tournament will be held by the REEL Ladies Sportfishing club from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.  All kids participating will receive a rod & reel courtesy of Tarpon Dock Seafood and Half Hitch Tackle. There will be a touch tank hosted by the St. Andrew Bay Estuary program.  An educational kids’ scuba station will offer tips on snorkeling and diving.  Of course, there will be plenty of kids ’ activities, including the all-popular bounce house and ice cream shop. The Bay County Artificial Reef Assoc. and PCB Rodeo crew will be cooking up locally sourced Tarpon Dock Seafood-Yum! They will be serving Grouper & Chicken baskets!

Throughout the weekends and the week of the rodeo, there will be nightly live family-friendly entertainment.

Friday night, October 10,  the PCB Seafood Festival will open at 5 p.m. with over 70 vendors. Look for standout seafood and lots of other great foods, as well as arts and crafts. The Festival activities will continue from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday for some great family feasting and fun. Live music with Gage Cowart takes place on the main stage Friday evening at 6 p.m., on Saturday, Nate Pennington 12 -3 p.m. and more music that evening, with the Will Thompson Band on stage Sunday, 3-6 p.m.  Find more details at www.pcbseafoodfestival.org .

Even if you don’t fish, this will be a really fun free event for your family and friends.  You will see anglers from 4 years old to 94 bringing in their catches as you enjoy all the fun activities and great food!

On Sunday evening, October 12, the PCB Rodeo officiants will have their closing ceremony at 6 p.m. and award all the prizes, closing out the evening with, what else but, Fireworks at 8:30 p.m.
