“God wants to bless you,” says Dr. Kerry Knight, a minister at Emerald Beach Church of Christ and the author of a new book. Released by Christian Faith Publishing this last month, “God Wants to Bless Your Life, So What Are You Waiting For?” is an inspirational book, a book Knight wrote to help people find fulfillment in their spiritual journeys and tap into promised blessings for believers.
“Too many religious people say ‘God is against me’. I hope this book will open up some new vistas for them,” explains Knight.
Knight wasn’t always a writer of inspirational texts. His varied background includes a BA and an MA in Psychology, a BA and an MA in Biblical Studies, and a PhD in Archaeology. His journey through various degrees and different states also includes years of lecturing, a stint as an on-camera spokesman, and numerous trips to holy sites in the Middle East. A few years ago, he moved with his wife here to the coast from Auburn, Alabama.
Recently, in his role as minister at Emerald Coast Church of Christ, Knight has been giving a summer series on belief that’s closely intertwined with this new book. “I have been very much interested over the years about how God has made it so easy for us to accept him,” explains Knight. “ What better way to spread the good word than to tell people there is a blessing behind it? It’s not a cold state of belief, it’s something that grows from within.”
“God Wants to Bless Your Life, So What Are You Waiting For?” is comprised of 29 chapters, each focused on a different kind of blessing with a special section that considers the eight beatitudes set out in Matthew. “Yes, things can go wrong,” writes Knight. “Sin has brought a lot of misery into the world, and we face the consequences of that. But God has not forsaken us.”
Through the course of the book, Knight touches on everything from gaining wisdom, humility, and hope to mourning and giving. His engaging approach includes a selection of encouraging Bible texts as well as anecdotes that provide everyday relevance for his ideas. “Even when God demands things, there’s a blessing on the other side,” says Knight
