The Bay County Sheriff’s Office was awarded the third Excelsior-level Accreditation status today by the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation (CFA).
To achieve Accreditation, the agency underwent an on-site examination of the Bay County Sheriff’s Office policies and procedures, management, operations, and support services. This is done every three years. Compliance with approximately 260 standards had to be passed to receive accredited status. Many of the standards are critical to life, health, and safety issues. Not only has the BCSO been an accredited agency, but the agency has now been awarded Excelsior-level accreditation three times consecutively.
Also receiving Accreditation status is the Bay County Sheriff’s Office Communications Section. This accreditation process is conducted separately from the agency accreditation visit and is equally as rigorous.
“I am so proud of the Bay County Sheriff’s Office,” said Sheriff Tommy Ford. “Consistent hard work and an equal commitment to service has made excellence a part of the BCSO culture.”
