It is hard to believe that we are almost at the midpoint of the 22-23 school year! However, we have much to celebrate at Breakfast Point Academy. The last article I wrote highlighted our middle school students at BPA, and while we are a K-8, we are ONE school together! So, in this article, I will highlight the elementary school side of BPA.
This year, our theme is based on Top Gun, and our motto is: We have the need, the need to succeed! We definitely succeeded in our last year of FSA as our elementary school helped our entire school maintain an “A” for the 21-22 school year! We are extremely proud of our teachers and students for their hard work, perseverance, and dedication to academics. We look forward to carrying on our commitment to academics for this school year.
Each month, we honor a Top Ray who characterizes our RAYS pledge (Rays are Responsible, Accountable, Young Leaders, Showing Respect) in addition to our Core Essentials word of the month. It was so awesome to honor our students as we ate lunch with them on the stage, called their names out in front of their peers, and awarded them with a certificate and bumper sticker for their parents! We definitely want our students to be proud of their accomplishments, and nothing says “proud parent” like a Top Ray bumper sticker!
BPA is also a PBIS (Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports) school where we celebrate the good behaviors of our students each month through celebrations. In addition, we were honored last year as a School of Resilience because of our strategies and successes in supporting our students and rewarding their behavior.
This year, we are also involved in a local Lego League, which is based on building robots and structures out of Legos and competing with other schools locally. Our STEM teacher has taken on this task, but she also has the help and support of two parent volunteers who are vested in creating these learning opportunities for our students. Stay tuned for results as our students use their creativity to build and compete! In addition to other creative opportunities, some of our elementary teachers have written and received grants from the Bay Education Foundation to continue working with our school garden and even expand it.
It will be another amazing opportunity to learn using hands-on experiences in our school garden. We cannot wait to see how it makes our Stingray minds grow! We know as the year goes on, we will have much more to celebrate, including local and state art competitions that take place annually.
We are not just a school, we are a family, and we work together to help each other RISE. We have the need, the need to succeed! One school, one heart, one vision = Every Ray, Every Day!
