This summer, Bayway Transit turned up the volume on community engagement with Music on the Move, a lively new concert series designed to celebrate local talent, energize public spaces, and showcase the ease and accessibility of public transportation services throughout Bay County.
Launched in May, the three-part series brought free live music to riders, residents and visitors at unique venues across Bay County. Each event offered more than just a show; it was a celebration of the places and people that make this community shine.
The series kicked off on May 16 with a truly one-of-a-kind performance. Local artist J. Cruz played live on board Bayway’s Route 5 bus, surprising mid-morning riders with soulful tunes during their everyday commute. It was a great start to a campaign that aimed to prove public transit isn’t just practical but can be fun too.
In June, the series rolled into the heart of historic St. Andrews, where Nicky Sunflower brought feel-good vibes to lunchtime diners at The Grocery Kitchen and Taproom. Guests enjoyed Cajun-inspired Southern cuisine while soaking up live music and learning more about Bayway’s convenient, affordable routes. A Bayway bus was even parked on-site, giving folks a chance to hop aboard, explore the interior and get a feel for what riding transit is really like.
The grand finale hit the perfect summer note at Hammerhead Fred’s, where Jamah Terry closed out the series with a weekend beachside set that blended great music with delicious food. Locals and visitors alike joined the fun, wrapping up the season with a sun-soaked celebration of local culture and connectivity.
Throughout the summer, Music on the Move highlighted what Bayway does best: bringing people together. Whether you were hopping on a bus for a regular commute, grabbing lunch in St. Andrews, or enjoying a Saturday afternoon by the beach, Bayway was there to take folks where they needed to go — and make the journey unforgettable.
Bayway Transit extends a heartfelt thank-you to its artist partners and the fantastic local businesses who helped make each event this summer a success. To learn more about Bayway’s routes, services and upcoming events, please visit www.baywaytransit.org.
