For one local couple, a flooded kitchen in January turned into a full home transformation, with the help of Flooring Depot of Panama City. What began as a stressful, unexpected event led to a kitchen they now call their dream space.
“We had a flood back in January,” Bob McNeal, the homeowner, explained. “A cut-off valve under the sink broke and water ran for over ten hours. Everything was soaked. We didn’t have a choice—the kitchen had to be redone from the ground up.”
Looking for the Right Fit
Bob McNeal and his husband immediately began looking at options. They visited big-box retailers, spoke with cabinet dealers, and compared quotes from several vendors. That’s when they remembered seeing Flooring Depot’s commercials on TV.

While the remodel was unexpected, the couple approached it as an opportunity to create something truly special. “We had an idea of what we wanted, but we also needed guidance,” McNeal said. “We made at least six trips back and forth with different quartz samples and backsplash tiles.”
The final selections included antique white cabinets and a quartz countertop that had first caught their eye at another store—but felt like the right fit once they saw it again at Flooring Depot. “That quartz was actually our second choice elsewhere,” McNeal shared. “But once we saw it again, we both agreed—it was the one.”
They also replaced their previous pressed wood cabinets, which had been destroyed by the flood, with more durable, high-quality cabinetry. “We didn’t want to risk going through this again,” he said. “We wanted materials that would last.”

What really stood out to the couple was the level of service they received from the Flooring Depot team. “We got quotes in a timely manner. Communication was great. Even when we changed our minds a few times, no one got frustrated with us,” McNeal said. “They even price-matched cabinets we found at another store.”
Even though the process took some time, the couple never felt left in the dark. “Of course, I got impatient,” he admitted. “It’s hard when you’re living in a renovation zone. But everything got done right, and that’s what matters.”

The couple didn’t just rebuild—they elevated their space. From the flooring to the finishes, they made intentional choices that reflected their style and needs. “We added special touches that made it feel more like us,” McNeal shared. “When we found something we liked, we didn’t settle—we upgraded.” Their goal wasn’t just to replace what was lost, but to create something better than before. And they succeeded.
“We really made it our own,” he said. “When the backsplash went in, that was the moment everything came together. It was the finishing touch.”
The final result? A kitchen that’s functional, personal, and beautiful. “It feels homey and warm,” he said. “It’s a space we’re proud of—and we love spending time in it now.”
