Fishing season is getting into full swing as we see less wind and more beautiful sunny days! Come on down and beat the summer crowds!

The Private Recreational boats and Guide Boats are getting their gear ready to start their Red Snapper season in STATE waters (only). The expected opening date for Florida’s State Waters is May 22.  In the meantime, these boats are out catching lots of Spanish Mackerel, some Cobia, and Sea Trout every day.

The Federal Gulf Waters open, as usual, on June 1, and from what they are seeing, it’s going to be a great season.  Right now, they are bringing in large catches of Vermilion snapper, Mangrove (black) snapper, Triggerfish (open until May 31), and many other species of Jacks and snapper.

Also open this time of year are Red Grouper (April 1 – December 31), Black(not Gag) Grouper(April 1 – December 31), and Scamp.

We’ll have to wait until September for Gag Grouper and Greater Amberjack, but it will be worth it. Meanwhile, there are plenty of other fish in the sea😊.

Grand Lagoon is home to many great charter boats, guide boats and head boats.  At Capt. Anderson’s Marina we are home to 12 Guide Boats, 30 Charter Boats, 3 Head(party) Boats, 4 Dive Boats, a 200-passenger Shell Island/Dolphin Cruise boat, Capt. Anderson III, and a Jet Boat, Sea Patriot.  Lots of family fun happening here!

Captains John and Bob on the Capt. Anderson III are having a great spring hosting so many school field trips.  The kids get so excited to feed the seagulls and watch the dolphins play. Many are showing off their new youngsters!

Red Grouper

Thrill-seekers are getting quite an exhilarating experience on the Sea Patriot as they cruise Grand Lagoon and St. Andrews Bay. And yes, they are getting wet and loving it!

In addition, Capt. Max’s Bar & Grill has fish & shrimp baskets, sandwiches, pizza, snacks and much more to offer as you wait for your trip to depart or just want to come and watch all the boats.  They offer air-conditioned seating on the first floor, open-air seating around the children’s play area, or great views of Grand Lagoon from the Upper Deck bar. Don’t forget that if you want to give Mom a break from the kitchen, Capt. Max’s will cook your catch for you – called Hook ‘n Cook.

Capt. Max’s Bar & Grill will be hosting its first Memorial Day celebration dockside. Food & Fun for the whole family! Check out the details at https://www.facebook.com/CaptMaxsBarGrill/
