From the Office of Congressman Neal Dunn

Congressman Neal DunnThe looming government shutdown dominated the headlines in September, but there was more happening in the House of Representatives that impacts Florida’s Second Congressional District.

Last month, I introduced a bill that would award the late Coach Bobby Bowden, a football legend and leader in our district, who passed away in 2021, with a Congressional Gold Medal. Coach Bobby Bowden was a leader on the field and in his community. While his grit and determination led the Seminoles to victory on many occasions, his kindness and generosity made him one of the most highly respected individuals in Florida. We are all grateful for his contribution to the Seminole Nation and the Sunshine State.

I also introduced the Timely Access to Coverage Decisions Act of 2023, which will ensure that local coverage determinations for the Medicare program are made in a timely manner. There are many uncertainties in life, but no American should be uncertain about their access to care. My bill seeks to streamline local coverage determinations so seniors in my district and nationwide can receive quality care without delay. Uneven approval timelines result in inadequate care, delays in needed treatments, and uncertainty about access to health care. Innovative products must be promptly evaluated to provide our nation’s seniors with top-notch care.

Before I close out, I would like to remind all of you that while we’re past the peak of Hurricane Season, we still have a long way to November 30. Please be sure to double-check your disaster plans and supplies. The more prepared we all are, the better.

I would also like to thank everyone who rushed to aid the counties impacted by Hurricane Idalia. Our district knows how devastating hurricanes are, and every time, you volunteer, donate, and support without hesitation. Once again, you’ve made me very proud to represent Florida’s Second Congressional District.
