Panama City Symphony is Busy This Fall!

A Look at the First Three Events of the 31st Season

Panama City Symphony is gearing up for a busy 31st Season, kicking off fall with our first three events. Opening Night takes place on Saturday, September 19 at the Barbara W. Nelson Fine Arts Center (Bay High School), 1200 Harrison Ave. in Panama City, featuring Antonin Dvořák’s Symphony No. 9, “From the New World.” This symphony is a breathtaking fusion of European tradition and the soul-stirring melodies of American spirituals and Native American folk music. From the haunting English Horn solo of the Largo—the melody that became the legendary “Goin’ Home”—to the thunderous, cinematic brass of the finale, the “New World” Symphony is a celebration of exploration, nostalgia, and the pioneering spirit. The show begins at 7 p.m.

On Friday, October 30, the Ultimate Halloween Fusion happens when the annual Renaissance to Rock-n-Roll returns to Capt. Anderson’s Event Center, 5550 N. Lagoon Drive in Panama City Beach. This fan-favorite show returns for its third year with a wicked twist, moving to October for a hauntingly immersive Halloween experience. Concertmaster Erika Sciascia, clarinetist John Divine, pianist Ani Mouradian, and bassist David Goldflies from Panama City Symphony will perform alongside local favorite, The Will Thompson Band, whose versatility in genres and styles spans Classic Rock to Motown and beyond. Soloist Charles Sciascia returns to center stage to lend his vocals and guide you through the evening as our Master of Ceremonies. The event takes place from 6 to 9 p.m.

On Saturday, November 14, patrons will experience a fiery, rhythmic journey to the Southern Hemisphere with Astor Piazzolla’s The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires, taking place at St. Andrew Baptist Church, 3010 W. 15th Street in Panama City. This masterpiece reimagines the spirit of the tango through a sophisticated classical lens. From the brooding intensity of “Winter” to the explosive energy of “Summer,” join us in this vibrant new setting for an unforgettable evening that bridges the gap between the concert hall and the streets of Argentina. Come early and enjoy refreshments in the foyer. Showtime begins at 7 p.m.
