Introducing: Panama City Coffee

Panama City Coffee began with a vision to improve the city. After experiencing the devastation caused by Hurricane Michael, Daniel Pratt witnessed the aftermath and felt the displacement that many others felt. By early 2019, it became evident that those who stayed in town were the remaining remnants.

Panama City Coffee 1Daniel recalls driving around town, seeing the debris, trash, and tarped roofs, and thinking that something needed to be done. It was during this drive that he wondered how he could combat the overwhelming sense of despair he had just encountered. Inspiration struck Daniel during a good afternoon nap, and he woke up with the idea of bringing Panamanian coffee to Panama City, FL, in a unique and fun way, hence the name “From Panama for Panama.”

With family ties to Panama, Daniel embarked on his mission to introduce Panamanian coffee to the city. Since its inception, the business has undergone several stages, including Daniel starting a family with his wife and having four kids. “It’s officially a family business now!”

However, one thing has always remained constant: Daniel’s desire to make Panama City a brighter place to live. Starting as a barista on a coffee bike, the business grew to a coffee truck, complete with a stunning mural by artist Lindsay Tobias. Now, Daniel is preparing to open his first brick-and-mortar location in Carillon Beach in early 2024. “I honestly didn’t expect to come this far,” Daniel admits. “I feel like I answered a calling. Our city needed rejuvenation, a spark, and I believe that God gave me this idea. I’m just one of many business owners who have the spirit to make Panama City a better place to live.”

You can find Daniel or one of Panama City’s employees riding a cold brew slinging tricycle around town, operating their coffee truck at Papa Joe’s Bayside (4601 US98 Panama City FL 32401), or soon in downtown Carillon Beach, sharing space with The Salty Bottle (106 Carillon Market St Suite 1, Panama City Beach, FL 32413).

“With the opening of our new Carillon location, Panama City coffee hopes to continue the vision of making our slice of paradise a better place to live.”
