Bay County Public Library to Help Bridge the Digital Divide

As part of AT&T’s support for improving digital literacy nationwide, the company is helping the Public Library Association (PLA) bring free, in-person digital literacy workshops to more than 200 libraries across 45 states, including the Bay County Public Library.

Upcoming Adult Digital Literacy Classes:

Computer Basics (Registration Required)
Tuesday, November 14 at 10 a.m. CT OR Tuesday, December 12 at 10 a.m. CT. The Computer Basics class is for those who are new to using a PC or want to build more confidence using the Windows 11 operating system.

Internet Basics (Registration Required)
Tuesday, November 14 at 11:30 a.m. CT OR Tuesday, December 12 at 11:30 a.m. CT. The Internet Basics class is for those who are new to the internet or want to build more confidence finding information online and navigating websites.

Mobile Device Drop-in
Tuesday, November 28 at 11:30 a.m. CT OR Tuesday, December 19 at 10 a.m. CT. Reference Staff will be located in the BCPL Meeting Room from 10 – 11 a.m. This digital literacy class will be conducted as a drop-in. Be sure to bring your fully charged smart device and any questions you have. Android phones, iPhones, Kindles, tablets, and iPads welcome! No registration required for this quick tutorial on your device.

The Bay County Public Library is located at 898 W. 11th Street, Panama City. The hours are Monday – Wednesday (9 a.m. – 7 p.m. CT) and Thursday – Saturday (9 a.m. – 5 p.m. CT). According to the U.S. Department of Education, about 16 percent of U.S. adults are not digitally literate. Advancing these skills is crucial to helping bridge the digital divide.
