Highway to the Stingray Zone

August 10 marked our first day of school for 2022-2023, and it was so amazing to see all of our returning Stingrays as well as meeting new ones! We welcomed over 1,000 students back into our classrooms, and over 600 of those students comprise the elementary side of Breakfast Point Academy. We are so excited to begin the school year as we have much to celebrate from the previous year and so much to look forward to for this year! We are going to be “Top Rays” because “We have the need… The need to succeed!!!”

We have so much to celebrate from last year, and our Art program represented BPA so well in many different regards. We had students compete in the Best of Bay, Audubon Contest, Youth Art Month Contest, and the Paul Brent Art Contest. The hardwork and dedication of our Art teacher and the talent of our Stingray artists were truly inspiring. We look forward to more artistic achievements this year! Our students performed in the top levels for First In Math across the school district, state, and nation! You can always count on our Stingrays!

This year, we are also introducing our LEGO team into local competitions, and our STEAM teacher, Mrs. Stripling, will be heading up this initiative. We are lucky to have parent volunteers and community partnerships to help put this all together, no pun intended. Additionally, Mrs. Stripling received two grants from the Bay Education Foundation that will expand our school garden to include vegetables and a butterfly section as well as an outdoor classroom! Ms. El-Far also wrote two grants to supplement the garden expansion that will also make our experiences interactive. We are truly grateful for our community partnerships as we all work to grow together.

We have some great events planned for the year as well. We had an amazing turnout at our PTO sponsored Trunk or Treat event on October 21. An estimated 600 kids attended along with family members as they visited 20 trunks and other vendors. We are in the planning stages of other events such as a Spring Fling, a Daddy-Daughter Dance, and a Color Run Fundraiser Day. We are appreciative of our PTO and the help and support they provide our Stingrays.

One of our proudest accomplishments from last year was maintaining our “A” status from the state of Florida. Although this is accomplished by the entire school, our elementary students and teachers were instrumental in making this happen. Prior to this year, many of our students missed so much instruction because of the hurricane, the pandemic (sick or quarantined), and distance learning. It must be noted that the grit and determination of our teachers and students shows that we can rise above the challenges.

At Breakfast Point Academy, we work hard to ensure “Every Ray… Every Day.” We cannot wait to share the amazing feats our elementary students accomplish this year as we embark on the “Highway to the Stingray Zone!”

We are Responsible, Accountable, Young Leaders, Showing Respect. Have a great day BPA!
