Helping One Student at a Time

Husfelt 2020By Bill Husfelt, Superintendent, Bay District Schools

Parental involvement is THE key indicator of student success, and it’s always amazing to see the level of involvement we have at our beach schools.

Whether you consider school grades, academic achievement, employee morale, or parent/guardian satisfaction, ALL of our beach schools consistently rate very highly. We know why — it’s because of parents, guardians, grandparents, family members, and community leaders like you!

Our beach schools enjoy a level of support from parents/guardians (and grandparents of course) AND the business community that is rare and very special. That commitment, and involvement, pays dividends when it comes to student achievement, as you can see from our consistently high-performing beach schools.

But the door is always open for more help.

If you have just a few minutes, or dollars, to spare, you can make a difference. I would invite each person reading this to contact the beach school closest to them (contact information below) this month to find out what’s needed and how you can help. From purchasing snacks to volunteering in a classroom to helping out with campus clean-up days, EVERYONE can contribute something, and we’re grateful for all the help we receive.
So please, don’t let another year go by without forging a partnership with your neighborhood school. We welcome your ideas and your assistance, and we know you will enjoy every aspect of supporting our schools. You can find contact information for all of our schools on our website at www.bay.k12.fl.us.

Thank you for your continued partnership; we cannot necessarily save the entire world, but we can make our world and our community a better place to live by helping one student at a time.
