The public is invited to an opening at the Light Room on October 17, from 6-8 p.m., showcasing the work of well-known Panama City photographer Chris Calohan, who is celebrating his 80th birthday with a retrospective exhibit of his photography journey. Featured in the show are some of his early analog photos and his most recent works, which come full circle, blending digital techniques with historic photo processes. Please join us for the opening night, and help celebrate this lifetime of consistent creativity.
Chris writes:
“My 68-year photographic journey began with the gift of a 35mm Canonflex camera my uncle gave me for my 12th birthday in 1958. I still have that very same camera and it still shoots beautiful images. I am a former educator (photography teacher), technical illustrator, analyst, and a jack of all trades, master of a few.
My journey is a retrospective of photography’s true beginnings, even in our mostly digital world. My processes illustrated in this exhibition consist of Platinum/Palladium, Kallitypes, Cyanotypes, Salted Paper and Ferroblends.”
The exhibit will be open from October 17-31, 2026.
