In a state with more than 67 counties and thousands of school leaders, one name from Bay County is rising to the top. Brooke Loyed, principal of Patronis Elementary School, has been named a Top 3 Finalist for Florida Principal of the Year, an honor that recognizes the very best in educational leadership and shines a spotlight on the excellence found within Bay District Schools.

Loyed leads Patronis with a rare and powerful balance of compassion and high expectations. Her philosophy is simple but impactful: every child should be known, supported, and challenged to succeed. That belief has helped shape a school culture where students feel valued, teachers feel empowered, and families feel connected.

Under her leadership, Patronis Elementary has earned four consecutive “A” school grades, a reflection of sustained academic excellence. Student performance continues to impress, with English Language Arts reaching 79% proficiency and Math at 75% in 2025. In several grade levels, achievement has climbed even higher, peaking at 81% proficiency. These results are driven by a strong focus on data-informed instruction, where teachers take ownership of student growth and continuously refine their practices to meet the needs of every learner.

Beyond the numbers, Loyed has created an environment that truly feels like family. She prioritizes relationships, celebrates success, and ensures that every student has opportunities to shine. One standout example is the school’s recognition of 65 “Millionaire Readers,” students who have read more than one million words in a single year, a milestone celebrated with pride across campus.

Loyed’s leadership also extends beyond the classroom. She has championed support for military-connected students, helping Patronis earn its Purple Star School designation, and has strengthened the school through meaningful partnerships with local businesses, churches, and community organizations.

Equally important is her investment in her staff. Loyed is known for growing future leaders, fostering trust, and building a culture of professional excellence that empowers educators to thrive.

As a Top 3 finalist, Brooke Loyed represents not only Patronis Elementary, but the very best of Bay District Schools, and a community committed to putting the “A” back in Bay.
