November: A Time for Thanks and Giving

Supt McqueenBy Mark McQueen, Bay District School Superintendent

November is a time when we reflect on the many things we are thankful for and how we can give back to those around us. At Bay District Schools, we emphasize the importance of giving back to our community daily. Whether through small acts of kindness or large-scale efforts, we teach our students the value of compassion and service, shaping them into successful learners and responsible, caring citizens.

Bay School Superintendent Supply CollectionThis November, I want to express my deepest gratitude to our beach schools for their incredible participation in our Hurricane Helene and Milton supply drives. Thanks to your generosity, countless families in need have received essential supplies to help them recover and rebuild. I’m particularly proud of our students, who have stepped up and actively participated in these efforts. From collecting items to assembling care packages, our students are learning that they have the power to make a real difference in the lives of others.

In addition to these supply drives, many of our schools, with the active participation of our students, are also involved in preparing Thanksgiving baskets for families in need right here in Bay County. These baskets provide not only food but also a sense of hope and community to those who need it most. Watching our students take part in these initiatives fills me with immense pride.

Bay School Superintendent Supply CollectionI invite and encourage all of us – parents, guardians, community members, and local business owners – to reach out to our neighborhood school this month. There are numerous opportunities to get involved—whether through donations, volunteering, or simply showing your support. Together, we can make a meaningful impact and continue to strengthen the bonds that hold our community together.

At Bay District Schools, we are committed to fostering a culture of giving and gratitude. With your continued support, we’re not only putting the ‘A’ back in Bay academically but also building a community where kindness and generosity flourish.

Thank you for all you do to support our students and schools. Together, we are making a difference.
