February included great moments that reminded me how privileged I am to serve Florida’s Second Congressional District. I started out the month speaking at the Florida Sheriffs Association’s 2024 Winter Conference. We’re fortunate in Florida that our law enforcement has an excellent track record of acting professionally in the line of duty. Sheriffs throughout our state, especially in Florida’s Second Congressional District, go beyond the call of duty to help their communities, and I want to thank them for their leadership and sacrifice.
I also recently had the honor of celebrating the Parker Pier Ribbon Cutting with Mayor Andrew Kelly and former Mayor Brenda Hendricks. This project has been years in the making and I’m proud to finally see it completed. Thank you to everyone who had a hand in making this possible! Great things are happening in Parker and across our district!
The House recently passed a bill that would stop restrictions on American liquified natural gas (LNG) exports. America produces some of the cleanest natural gas in the world. I believe the decision to “pause” LNG exports jeopardizes U.S. jobs and energy security. Additionally, this decision can undercut our efforts to help Europe reduce its reliance on Russian energy. In other words, this decision is nothing more than a gift to Putin. We must unlock our LNG potential and boost America’s economy.
In addition to boosting our economy, I’ve prioritized increasing access to quality health care. I voted in favor of the Protecting Care for All Patients Act (H.R. 485) this past month, which passed in the House. The bill would ban Quality-Adjusted Life Years and other similar measures from being used in federal health care programs. This would prevent discrimination against people with disabilities and those with chronic and rare diseases. Every American deserves access to quality health care.
February has been a productive and rewarding month. I want to thank you all for allowing me the privilege of serving and fighting for Florida’s Second Congressional District. God bless you all!
